PAIN / MIGRAINES

Among its many uses, acupuncture is probably most widely known for its effectiveness at reducing pain. Plenty of research supports the benefits for pain from acute to chronic, low back and neck pain, osteoarthritis pain, musculoskeletal pain, cancer pain, plantar fasciitis, headaches, migraines, dental pain and post-operative pain. Acupuncture can not only reduce pain directly more than placebo (it even works on animals!), but it can also improve sleep, reduce depression and anxiety, elevate mood, improve energy, and help reduce reliance on medication – all factors which can help pain indirectly and significantly improve your quality of life.

Pain is not just a physical and emotional burden, it is also a cost to our society in terms of lost work days and productivity, extended hospital stays, and high medication usage which sometimes morphs into addiction. Acupuncture provides a non-medicated, cost-effective treatment option with very little side effects that has been shown to provide lasting relief long after a course of treatment is over, while other more conventional therapies sometimes see pain come back relatively soon. A course of treatment consists of a series of acupuncture sessions, the amount of which varies greatly depending on the type of pain involved and other individual factors.

At Eastern Harmony, all our acupuncturists have gone through national board examination and are licensed by the Texas Medical Board. They have received not just a certification but a full, 4+ year post-graduate education with comprehensive training on how to treat a number of conditions, including pain, safely and effectively.

If you (or someone you love) are in pain, and have considered acupuncture, with or without electrical stimulation, cupping or “dry needling” (a form of acupuncture) to manage your symptoms, give us a call today!
